Burgess & Company was founded by Dale Burgess in 1986 in San Francisco. Dale, a 40+ year accounting professional, recently retired from the firm to enjoy time with his family. 

Leading the firm are Dave Rinehart, a CPA and a firm colleague of Dale's for the past 23 years.  Fellow partner Andy Li, also a CPA, has worked with Dale and Dave for the past 12 years. 

Although the leadership has changed hands, the firm's philosophy remains the same: to offer superior service to our clients in the areas of audit, assurance, tax, and consulting.  We offer unparalleled technical expertise combined with close, personal attention to our clients.  We promise a high level of service to help you address your tax and accounting issues.  We believe in the value of partnerships where our success helps drive your success.

Our professional staff offers advanced training, technical experience and financial expertise. Many have been with us for 10 years or longer. The staff receives ongoing training to ensure they may maintain the highest professional standards, and to enable us to offer high quality service in the areas of accounting, tax and consulting. Our staff has access to extensive in-house and on-line tax libraries so that we can quickly respond to clients inquiries on both simple and complex tax issues.

Burgess & Company has memberships in various professional associations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

We strive to improve our quality of service. Every two years, our Firm undergoes a peer review by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. We have received a "clean opinion" each time as a result of their reviews. As a result of this commitment to our people and our practice, Burgess & Company continues to grow by referrals and word-of-mouth. Dave has more than 20 years experience in accounting and tax for all forms of legal entities. He joined the firm in 1988 and directs the tax, audit and financial practices. Dave has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from San Francisco State University and a master's degree in taxation from Golden Gate University.
